Pounce Pads & Quilt Stencils
Full Line Stencils are unique, they are made to be transferred with a Pounce pad. They are accurate, fast and easy to use.
- Full Line Stencils work by forcing the chalk powder in the pounce pad through the screen mesh as it's swiped across the surface of the stencil. The designs do not have a true opening, a pencil will not work to transfer them.
- The design is transferred on to the quilt top so quickly, no more fatigue in your hands from gripping the pencil, fabric does not get stretched and pulled like it does with a sharp pencil point.
- There is no right or wrong side, most designs have registration marks to help align repeats. And rather than tracing all those lines you just swipe the chalk filled refillable Pounce Pad over the mesh and are ready to sew in no time.
- The chalk powder is available in white, pink, blue and barely blue (wash-out) and white (iron-off). Refill chalk packs are available
Which colour chalk to use?
As always with fabric marking please pre-test chalks on your fabric before use.
Ultimate Pounce Pad: Iron Off White Chalk
The chalk dissipates with heat! Turn your iron on to Med- High (Cotton or higher) for easy removal of the chalk. It also washes out. It's actually tailors chalk in a ground-up form, it won’t build up on your iron or fabric. The adhesion to your fabric is great! It shows up on bold colours, darks and just about any solid as long as it’s got some colour to it. Anything that has a white marble to it or prints that have white in them will make this chalk very hard to see, that’s when you would use one of our colour chalks.
Blue Chalk Pounce Pad: Brush/Wash off
Blue Chalk, for use on multi colours, busy prints etc. The chalk shows up well on darks as well as lights. Use when Pink is a prevalent colour in the quilt for optimum contrast. This chalk may need some sizing spray or hairspray (aerosol) to increase the adhesion in some fabrics.
Barely Blue Pounce Pad: Brush/Wash off
Minimal blue pigment added to Ultimate Chalk. It does not iron off and tends to adhere well. For use on very light colour fabric
Pink Chalk Pounce Pad: Brush/Wash off
Pink Chalk, for use on multi colours, busy prints etc. The chalk shows up well on darks as well as lights. Use when blue is a prevalent colour in the quilt for optimum contrast. This chalk may need some sizing spray or hairspray (aerosol) to increase the adhesion in some fabrics.
White Chalk Pounce Pad: Brush/Wash off White Chalk, for use on dark fabrics. This chalk may need some sizing spray or hairspray (aerosol) to increase the adhesion in some fabrics.
Care for your stencils
The stencils are easy to care for, they are waterproof. You can even use paint through them, just rinse them off with water when you’re done. If they get wrinkled just iron them flat again! Use a medium to medium-high heat setting and no steam when ironing them. It’s a great way to clean them if you’re using the Ultimate Pounce Powder. Always wipe them after using the blue chalk to make sure none gets pulled through if you use a white chalk afterwards. You can wipe them with a dry or damp towel. A micro-fibre towel works also well. They are very easy to care for and will last a very long time!
