"I created this book, a supplement to Ricky Tims' Rhapsody Quilts, to provide you with a variety of designs, any one of which can become a springboard for creating your own original Rhapsody quilt. To know me as a teacher is to know that my goal is to foster creativity and individuality; however, in an effort to give even the most timid among you a jump start, this little book has instructions and full-sized freezer paper patterns for a specific quilt that you can make. Even so, the quilt is designed to be flexible so you can make it your own. As ever, my primary intention is to offer guidelines, suggestions, and sample designs that you can use or alter as you see fit; as such, I've included eight alternative skeletons as well as examples of quilts with related themes, including a few by students, in a small but top-notch gallery.

This book highlights the wonderful appliqué feathers that I enjoy using in many of my quilts. In a sense, it is a tribute to Bohemian Rhapsody, the original Rhapsody quilt. To this end, I've provided a collection of feather designs for appliqué. In addition, I've provided other elements, such as urns, scrolls, and stylized flowers and leaves, that are also associated with my designs. I hope you will enjoy using this book as a springboard for creating your own original Rhapsody quilt.
