I love collecting the treasures that accompany any given moment, and telling a story with the photos and ephemera that go along with that memory. I love the idea that someday, someone who remembers me fondly might retell my stories when I am long gone. You can never have enough of these types of treasures, so making them for my own family is very important to me. This also gives me an excuse to be a packrat of sorts. I save the things that I hope will be cherished by my children in years to come: silly things like sticky notes with loving messages, report cards, artwork, movie or event ticket stubs...anything sentimental that I can get my hands on, really.
I was drawn to the art of scrapbooking many years ago by this idea of having personal treasures to pass down to members of my family. Collecting photos, combining them with personal mementos, stories, and other ephemera to create your family story with an artistic twist, is wonderfully special. With the addition of digital images, scanners and printers, I can finally combine my collections of ephemera, photos, artwork, and other sentimental items into beautiful pieces to pass on to my family for many generations to come.
